All-New THAR Reveal

Launched in 2010 the Mahindra Thar became the SUV loved by every adventure off-roaders. Finally after 10 years of adventure hosting many camps across the country the company has finally revealed the new Thar the off-road icon.

The new Thar retains many elements from its older self but is a lot different than the older self. The company focussed on the customer reports and addressed them, polished the Thar to make capable off-road with off-road capabilities, and on-road with luxury.

The Thar is now made available with a new Petrol and Diesel engine. The petrol engine on offer is a DOHC 16-valve 2.0-liter m-Stallion 150 T-GDI motor giving out 150 bhp power with 320Nm torque. The diesel offering being the m-Hawk diesel with 130bhp and 300Nm torque. The engines are provided with 6-speed Manual and 6-speed torque converter AT.

Mahindra provides the Thar with LX and AX series. The AX gets six-seats, steel wheel rims (ideal for offroad), park assists, and is available with only manual transmission because its the adventure variant. It is also made available with the optional package to choose between convertible top and hardtop and other goodies.

Whereas the LX series being the lifestyle variant for city dwellers it gets 4 seats (front-facing seats), 18-inch alloys with 255/65 section, TPMS, and many more along with the option of the Automatic on the petrol engine.

The Thar being a true off-roader gets the manual shift 4x4 transfer case channeling power as per requirements which is 'standard' across all variants. The Thar is based out on Mahindra's third-generation body-on-frame chassis. The platform has a better torsional rigidity adding to the vehicles off-road capabilities for articulation.

The new Thar gets independent front suspension and multilink rear suspension adding to its on-road comfort and off-road capability. The combination of mechanical and brake locking differentials available with all-terrain tyres ensures the vehicle glides over obstacles without hassle over any terrain.

The new Thar gets a water wading capability of 650mm (ideal car for Mumbai?) over its predecessor's 500mm. As expected an off-roader to have a good approach, departure, and break-over angle the Thar has them all with angles of 42 degrees, 37 degrees, and 27 degrees respectively.

Well, from all this I tell you the Thar is a fun car and if you are a Thar owner the chance of you taking it off-road is high and if you worry about your luxurious upholstery get dirty due to mud worry not as the company as thought of it and provided with the washable interior.

Adding to the funkiness of the car are the roof-mounted speakers which appear to be capable enough to handle the ruggedness of the vehicle while playing your favorite song while you enjoy driving.

On the interior, as from expected a modern-day SUV to pack in features all of it is made available to make it your daily commuter. The vehicle comes equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen, weather-resistant switches, and knobs. Also comes equipped with real-time Adventure stats which makes off-roading tad-bit easier. The TFT display instrument cluster, steering mounted controls and cruise control which makes it feel like a regular SUV to drive on a regular day. The bucket seats make it comfortable be it enjoying on-road or offroad. The silver and chrome finish adds to the class of the vehicle.

Talking on the safety point the company surely puts in the effort for designing a safe car as seen with Marazzo and XUV300 so we expect it to hold the same. The vehicle comes equipped with Dual Airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP, Roll-over mitigation, traction control, hill-hold, hill-descent, roll-cage, ISOFIX. As per the words from the company, the vehicle also passed the crash test standards whose results will be confirmed once Global-NCAP holds the test and gives the general public a report.

Thar comes available with a six-color palette to choose from.

All these things come together to make the Thar once again everyone's car of choice and make it that one vehicle everyone wants because of its unique design and proper hardcore SUV stance. -Live Life Zara Hatke- (live life a bit differently).

The vehicle will be launched on Mahindra's founders day - 2nd October 2020, along with this the pricing and bookings for all-new Thar will begin.
